Saltillo to Querétaro

From Saltillo to Querétaro, we traveled some 400 miles through the great Chihuahuan Desert and the Altiplano Potosino that runs to San Luís Potosí, where the Colonial Circle of Mexico begins. I love the vast visual space of the desolate high plateau that expands one's consciousness to far horizons in every direction. Thousands of spiky sentinels stand guard over the highway that runs on, interminably it seems, to the south.

In Querétaro we spent the night in small and intimate Burro Azul--affordable and in the heart of the Historic Center.

Querétaro is one of my favorite Mexican cities, not that I´ve been in so many Mexican cities to be able to make a reasonable comparison. But still, I like it.

So where is this Burro Azul?

El Burro Azul is three blocks from La Plaza de Armas.
