Catrinas are skeleton figures, dressed in outrageous clothing and costume, with which Mexico mocks death. For further explanation see "Catrinas" and Skeletons: Mocking Death in Mexican Culture.
This exhibit will feature hand-selected Catrina pieces from Capula. There will be something “for every pocket”, as one says in Spanish. Prices will range from approximately Pesos $100 to $500.

I love Catrinas. I bought one in an import shop in Houston years ago and kept it on my bathroom counter. It cost over $200. The same thing is available here for $25. Clearly, the import shop, run by a Mexican guy, took "markup" to absurd proportions.
Hi, I just found this blog entry while searching Google. I bought one of these Catrina's yesterday before leaving to head home to Mexico City. When I arrived home I realized that they packed only the body of my Catrina, and not the head! Do you happen to know the contact information of anyone selling the Catrina's at the Library? Worse comes to worse I think I'll just call the library during my lunch break and ask if they can help.
